The 24V battery pack is a battery system composed of multiple battery cells connected in series, with an output voltage of 24 volts. The cells used in the battery pack are typically 2V, 3.2V, or 3.7V.

The number of lithium cells inside a 24V battery depends on the voltage of each individual cell.

 

24V ÷ 3.7V ≈ 6.5.

For 3.7V 18650 lithium cells, 7 cells are needed to form a 24V battery pack.

 

24V ÷ 3.2V = 7.5.

For 3.2V lithium iron phosphate cells, 8 cells are required to create a 24V battery pack.

The charging steps for a 24V lithium battery can be referenced as follows:

 

  1. Choose the appropriate charger, ensuring that the voltage and current are compatible, it supports constant current and constant voltage modes, and has safety features.
  2. Check the charger and battery pack to ensure there are no abnormal conditions, and place them in a well-ventilated environment.
  3. Connect the charger’s leads to the positive and negative terminals of the battery, and ensure the connections are secure.
  4. Start charging after correctly setting the charging parameters, and monitor the charging status during the process.
  5. When the charger indicates that charging is complete, turn off the power and disconnect the connections.

Assuming you have a 24V 100Ah lithium battery and expect to charge it fully within 5 hours, you can estimate the size of the solar panels using the following method.

Battery Capacity:
Total Energy (Wh) = Voltage (V) × Current (Ah) = 24V × 100Ah = 2400Wh

Required Power:
Power (W) = 2400Wh ÷ 5h = 480W

Assuming the system efficiency is 80%, the actual required power would be:
480W × 80% = 600W

This means the solar panels need to provide 600W of power to fully charge the 24V battery in 5 hours.

From the previous question, we know that to fully charge a 24V 100Ah lithium battery within 5 hours, a solar panel with a power rating of 600W is required. The number of solar panels needed varies based on their wattage:

 

If using 250W solar panels:

600W ÷ 250W = 2.4

You would need 3 solar panels rated at 250W.

 

If using 300W solar panels, you would need 2 solar panels.

 

If using 400W solar panels, you would also need 2 solar panels.

 

Although both options require 2 panels in some cases, you should still choose the option that offers better cost performance based on your actual situation.

The DIY steps for a 24V lithium battery are as follows:

 

  1. Select the battery cells.
  2. Design the battery configuration.
  3. Assemble the battery cells.
  4. Connect the battery cells.
  5. Install the battery management system (BMS).
  6. Connect the wires and connectors.
  7. Encase the battery.
  8. Test the battery.

The design lifespan of the Delong 24V lithium battery is 12 years, with the capability to complete 6,500 cycles.

The number of hours a 24V battery can provide power depends on its capacity and the load power. For example, if you have a 24V 200Ah battery, it can power a 1 kW household appliance for approximately 4.8 hours.

 

24V × 200Ah = 4800Wh

4800Wh ÷ 1000W = 4.8h

 

The battery’s condition and the surrounding environment can also affect the actual supply time.

When the 24V lithium battery is fully charged, its voltage should be between 28.8V and 29.4V. The actual value may vary depending on temperature and battery type.

When the voltage of a 24V battery drops below 21.6V, the battery dies or is in an over-discharge state.

When you need higher power output or to reduce current loss, you can opt for 24V.

We do not recommend connecting a 12V inverter to a 24V battery. Their voltages do not match, which can easily damage the equipment and pose safety risks.

If their voltages match, you can do this. However, fish finders typically operate at 12V or lower, and connecting them directly to a 24V battery can cause damage to the equipment. In this case, you can use a step-down voltage regulator to convert 24V to 12V. Of course, it is best to consult the supplier to see if this is allowed.
